And God
said, Let the waters under the
heaven be gathered together unto one place, and
let the dry land appear: and it
was
so.
**
And
take thou unto thee of all food that
is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.
**
And Cush begat Nimrod:
he began to be a
mighty one in the
earth.
**
Then
Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they
separated themselves the one
from the other.
*****
And the Lord said unto Abram, - after that Lot - was separated
from him,
Lift up now thine eyes, and look - from the place
- where thou art northward,
and southward, - and eastward, - and westward:
For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed - for ever.
*****
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
**
In the
sweat of thy
face shalt thou
eat bread, till thou return
unto the ground;
for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
**
And Cain
said unto the Lord, My punishment
is greater than I can bear.
*****
And I will make thy seed as
the dust of the earth: so that if
a man can number the dust
of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.
Arise, walk
through the land in
the length of it and
in the breadth
of it; for I will - give it - unto thee.
*****
And it
repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth,
and it
grieved him at his heart.
**
And he laid
it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.
Also I
heard the voice of the Lord,
saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?
*
And
Isaac spake unto Abraham his father,
and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son.
*
Then said I, Here am I; send me.
And he
said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.
Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy,
and shut their eyes; lest they
see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be
healed.
Then said I, Lord,
how long? And he
answered, Until the cities
be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,
And the Lord have removed men
far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land.
But yet in it
shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is
in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof.
*****
Then
Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain
of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the Lord.
