These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man - and perfect in his generations,
and - Noah walked with God.
**
And
the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark;
for thee have I seen
righteous - before me -in this generation.
***
And God said,
This is the token of the covenant which I make between
me and you and every living creature that is with
you, for perpetual generations:
***
Now these
are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem,
Ham, and Japheth:
and unto them were sons born - after the flood.
***
These are the families of the sons of Noah, - after their - generations,
in
their nations:
and by these
were the nations divided in the earth - after
the flood.
***
These are the generations of Shem: Shem
was an hundred
years old, and begat Arphaxad two years
- after
the flood:
And Shem
lived after he begat
Arphaxad five hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.
***
Now these are
the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.
**
And Babylon,
the glory of kingdoms, the beauty
of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.
**
And
Haran died before
- his father Terah in the land
of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.
And Abram and
Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, - the daughter
of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
But Sarai
was barren; she had no child.
***
And he
believed in the Lord; and he
counted it
to him for righteousness.
*****
And he
said unto him,
I am the Lord
that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees,
to give thee this land to inherit it.
*****
And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother?
And he
said,
I know not:
Am I my brother's keeper?
*****
And he
said,
Lord God, whereby shall I
know that I shall inherit it?
*****
And Abraham
ran unto the herd, and fetched a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man;
and he
hasted to dress
it.
***
And Rebekah
spake unto Jacob her son, saying,
Behold,
I heard thy father speak unto Esau thy brother, saying,
Bring me venison,
and make me
savoury meat, - that I may eat, and bless thee - before the Lord
before my death.
Now therefore,
my son, obey my voice according to that which I command
thee.
Go now to the flock,
and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats; and I will
make them savoury meat for thy father, such as he
loveth:
***
And
Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
And Abraham called
the name of that place Jehovahjireh:
as it is said to this day, In the
mount of the Lord it shall be seen.
***
And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or
for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a
turtledove, for a sin offering, unto
the door of the tabernacle
of the congregation, unto the priest:
Who shall
offer it before the Lord,
and make an atonement for her; and she shall be cleansed from the issue of her blood. This is the law
for her that hath borne a male or a female.
And if
she be not able to bring
a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles,
or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt
offering, and the other
for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.
*****
And he
said unto him,
Take me an heifer of
three years old, and a she goat
of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.
And he
took unto him all these,
and divided
them in the midst, and laid each piece - one against
another: but the birds divided he
not.
And when the fowls
came down upon the carcases,
- Abram drove them away.
And when the
sun was going down, a deep sleep fell
upon Abram;
and, lo,
an horror of great darkness fell upon him.
And he
said unto Abram,
Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is - not theirs, and shall serve them;
and they
shall afflict them - four hundred years;
And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and after-ward shall they come out
with great substance.
And thou
shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old
age.
But in the fourth generation
they shall come hither again: for the iniquity
of the Amorites is not yet full.
