Burnt offerings

And the Lord said unto Cain,

Where is Abel thy brother?
And he said,
I know not:
Am I
 my brother's keeper?
***
And God looked upon the earth,
and, behold,
it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

And God said unto Noah,

The end of all flesh is come - before me;
for the earth is filled with violence through them;

and, behold,

I will destroy them with the earth.
***
And he said,

Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.
***
But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.
***

Make thee an ark of god prophets blood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.

And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.

A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.
*
And Noah builded an altar unto the Lord;
and took of every clean beast,
and of every clean fowl,
and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
***
And Isaac spake unto Abraham - his father,
and said,
My father:
and he said,
Here am I, my son.

And he said,
Behold the fire and the wood:
but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
And Abraham said,
My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering:
so they - went both - of them - together.
***
And in process of time the daughter of Shuah Judah's wife died; and Judah was comforted, and went up unto his sheepshearers to Timnath, he and his friend Hirah the Adullamite.

And it was told Tamar, saying,
Behold thy father in law goeth up to Timnath to shear his sheep.
And she put her widow's garments off from her,
and covered her with a veil,
and wrapped herself,
and sat in an open place, which is by the way to Timnath; for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she was not given unto him to wife.

When Judah saw her, he thought her to be an harlot; because she had covered her face.
And he turned unto her by the way,

and said,
Go to, I pray thee, let me come in unto thee; (for he knew not that she was his daughter in law.)

And she said,
What wilt thou give me, that thou mayest come in unto me?

And he said,
I will send thee a kid from the flock.

And she said,
Wilt thou give me a pledge, till thou send it?

And he said,
What pledge shall I give thee?

And she said,
Thy signet,
and thy bracelets,
and thy staff that is in thine hand.

And he gave it her, and came in unto her,
and she conceived by him.
And she arose,
and went away,
and laid by her veil from her,
and put on the garments of her widowhood.

And Judah sent the kid by the hand of his friend the Adullamite, to receive his pledge from the woman's hand; but he found her not.

Then he asked the men of that place, saying,
Where is the harlot, that was openly by the way side?

And they said,
There was no harlot in this place.
And he returned to Judah, and said,
I cannot find her; and also the men of the place said, that there was no harlot in this place.

And Judah said,
Let her take it to her, lest we be shamed:

And it came to pass about three months after,

that it was told Judah, saying,
Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she is with child by whoredom.

And Judah said,
Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.
When she was brought forth, she sent to her father in law, saying,
By the man, whose these are, am I with child: and she said,
Discern, I pray thee, whose are these, the signet,
 and bracelets,
and staff.

And Judah acknowledged them,
and said,
She hath been more righteous than I; because that I gave her not to Shelah my son.
And he knew her again no more.
***
And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and d-evil.
And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.
*****
Lord God, whereby shall - I know - that I shall inherit it?
And he said unto him,
Take me an heifer of three years old,
*****

And he said, Behold now, I am old, - I know not the day of my death:
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, - thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, - and take me some venison;

And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die.

And Rebekah heard when Isaac spake to Esau his son. And Esau went to the field to hunt for venison, and to bring it.
***
And Rebekah spake unto Jacob her son, saying,
Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau thy brother, saying,
***
And God said,
Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit - after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, - after his kind:
and God saw that it was good.
***
And Rebekah spake unto Jacob her son, saying,

Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau thy brother, saying,

Bring me venison, - and make me savoury meat, - that I may eat, and bless thee - before the Lord - before my death.
Now therefore,
my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee.
Go now to the flock, and fetch me - from thence two good kids of the goats; and I will make them savoury meat for thy father, such as he loveth:
And thou shalt bring it to thy father, that he may eat, and that he may bless thee - before his death.

*****
And he said unto him,
Take me an heifer of three years old,
and a she goat of three years old,
and a ram of three years old,
and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.

And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece - one again-st -an-other:
*****
With my soul have I desired thee in the night;
yea,
with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.
Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness:
in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the Lord.
*****
And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
And God blessed them, saying,
Be fruitful, and multiply,
and fill the waters in the seas,
and let fowl multiply in the earth.
***
As birds flying, so will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it.
Turn ye unto him from whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted.
For in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made unto you for a sin.
Then shall the Assyrian fall with the sword, not of a mighty man; and the sword, not of a mean man, shall devour him: but he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall be discomfited.
And he shall pass over to his strong hold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the ensign, saith the Lord, whose fire is in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.
*****

but the birds divided he not.

And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away.
*****
And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam - there was not found an help meet for him.
And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam,
and he slept:
and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
*****
And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram;
and, - lo,
an horror of great darkness fell upon him.

And he said unto Abram,

Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs,
and shall serve them;
and they shall afflict them  - four hundred years;

And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.
*****
Then shall the Assyrian fall with the sword, not of a mighty man; and the sword, not of a mean man, shall devour him: but he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall be discomfited.
And he shall pass over to his strong hold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the ensign, saith the Lord,
whose fire is in Zion,
and his furnace in Jerusalem.
Behold,
a king shall reign in righteousness,
and princes shall rule in judgment.
*****
And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace;
thou shalt be buried in a good old age.
And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.
In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram,

saying,
Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
The Kenites,
and the Kenizzites,
and the Kadmonites,

And the Hittites,
and the Perizzites,
and the Rephaims,

And the Amorites,
and the Canaanites,
and the Girgashites,
and the Jebusites.
