Touch the Throne
A Novel by
Samuel

the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God;  walk before me, and be thou perfect.
The law of the LORD is perfect,

And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:
And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:

And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:
And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me,

And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, even a pillar of stone:

and thou shalt stand upon a rock:

In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;

And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:
And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days. And God remembered Noah,

And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts:
And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear.
Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid;

but my face shall not be seen.
For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.

And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there,
and proclaimed the name of the LORD.
And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed,
and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.
The LORD,
The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.
And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.
And Abram fell on his face:  and God talked with him, saying, As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
Forsake me not, O LORD: O my God, be not far from me.
Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.

And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped.
And he said,  If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance.

For the LORD'S portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

And he said, Behold, I make a covenant: before all thy people I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation: and all the people among which thou art shall see the work of the LORD: for it is a terrible thing that I will do with thee.

            Four Hundred years
And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him. And he said unto Abram,
Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
