Surely
But of the
tree of the knowledge of good and
evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in
the day that thou
eat-est there-of thou shalt surely die.
And the
serpent said unto the work-man, Ye shall not surely die:
And
surely
your blood
of your lives
will I require; at the hand of - every b-east - will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every- man's
brother will - I require the life of man.
And
the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, - and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; - and - man became a - living
soul.
And
it came to pass, when she was in - hard lab-our, that the midwife said unto her, Fear not;
thou shalt have this son also.
And
it came to pass, as her - soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Benoni: but his father
called him Benjamin.
And
Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath,
which is Bethlehem.
And
Jacob set a pillar upon her grave: that is the pillar of Rachel's - grave unto this day.
And
Israel journeyed, and spread his tent beyond the tower of Edar.
As
the
cloud is consumed and vanisheth away: so he that goeth down to the grave
shall come up no more. He shall return no more to his house, neither shall his
place know him any more. Therefore I will not refrain
my mouth; I will speak in the anguish
of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.
Wherefore
then hast thou brought me forth out of
the womb? Oh that I had given up the ghost, and no eye
had seen me! I should have been as though I
had not been; I should have been
carried from the womb to the grave.
O
that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me! If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
Where-fore is light given to him
that is in misery, and life unto the - bitter in
soul;
Which long for death, but it cometh
not; and dig for it
- more
than for hid treasures; - Which rejoice exceedingly, and are glad, when - they can find
the grave?
As
my
hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria;
Shall I
not, as I have done unto Samaria and
her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?
How art
thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer,
son of the morning! - how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst
weaken the nations!
For
thou hast said in thine he-art, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne
above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
I will ascend above the heights of the
clouds; I will be
like the
most High.
Yet thou shalt be brought down to
hell, to the sides of the pit.
They
that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is
this the man that made the earth to tremble, that
did shake kingdoms;
That
made the world as a wilderness, and
destroyed
the cities there-of; that opened not the house
of
his prisoners?
All
the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory,
every
one in
his own house.
But
thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the
raiment of those that are slain, thrust
through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.
Thou shalt not be joined with them
in burial, because thou hast - destroyed thy land,
and slain thy people: the
seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.
Prepare
slaughter for his
children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face
of
the world with cities.
For I will rise up against them, saith the Lord of hosts, and cut off - from Babylon the name, Jesus- and remnant, and son, and nephew, saith the Lord ISamuelyea.
I
will
also make it a possession for the bittern,
and pools of water: and I will
sweep it with the besom of destruction, saith the Lord of hosts.
The Lord of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely
as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as
ISamuelyeaon-AmAllah
have purposed, so shall it stand:
For
where your
trea-sure
is
there will your he-art
be al-so.
