Law
And
he said, - Lay not - thine hand upon the lad,
neither do thou - any thing un-to
- him:
for
now - I know that thou fearest
God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, - thine only son - from me.
And
Aaron said unto Moses, Al-as,- my
lord, - I beseech thee, - lay not the sin
upon us,
wherein we have done foolishly, and wherein we have sinned.
Let
her not be as one
dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed -
when he - cometh out of - his mother's womb.
Lay not - up for - yourselves treasures upon
earth,
Abraham went
- and took the ram, and offered him - up for -a burnt offering in the stead
of his son.
Lay not - up for – your-selves treasures upon
earth,
For
he saith, By the strength of my hand I
have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have
removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I
have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man:
And
my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people:
and as one gathereth eggs that are left,
have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing,
or opened the mouth, or peeped.
Lay not - up for – your-selves treasures
upon earth,
Be
merciful, O
Lord,
unto thy people Israel, whom thou hast redeemed, and - lay not -
innocent blood unto thy
people of - Israel's charge. And the blood shall be forgiven them.
So
shalt thou put away the
guilt of innocent blood - from among you, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the
Lord.
When
thou
go-est - forth to war against thine
enemies, and the Lord thy
God hath delivered them into thine hands, - and thou hast taken them captive,
Lay not up for - yourselves treasures upon
earth,
*****
And
if any one of the common people sin through ignorance,
while he doeth somewhat against any of the commandments
of the Lord concerning things which ought not to be done, and be guilty;
And
she answered him, Nay, my brother, do not force me; for no such thing ought to be done in Israel: do not thou this folly.
****
Nevertheless
the men rowed hard to bring it to the land; but they - could not: for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous
against
them.
Where-fore
they cried unto the Lord, and said, We
beseech thee, O
Lord,
we beseech thee, - let us - not perish - for
this man's life, - and - lay not upon us innocent blood: for thou, O Lord, hast done as it pleased thee.
So
they
took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from - her raging.
Then
the men feared the Lord exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the Lord, and made vows.
*****
God
hath
delivered me to the ungodly, and turned me
over into the hands of the wicked.
I was at ease,- but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me - up for - his mark.
*****
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth,
And
it shall come to pass in that day, that every place shall be, - where there
-
were a thousand vines at a thousand silverlings,
it shall even be for briers and thorns.
With arrows and with bows shall men come thither; because all the land shall become briers
and thorns.
And
on all hills that shall be digged with the mattock, there shall not come thither the fear of briers and thorns: but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of lesser cattle.
and
where
thieves break through and steal:
Thy
princes - are
rebellious, and companions of thieves:
every one loveth gifts, and followeth - after rewards: they judge not the
fatherless, neither doth the cause
of the widow come unto them.
There-fore saith the Lord, the Lord of hosts, the mighty One
of
Israel, Ah,
I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:
and
where thieves break through and steal:
Will ye steal,
murder,
and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk - after other gods
whom ye know not;
And
come and stand before me in this house, which is called
by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations?
Is this
house, which is called by my name, become a den of
robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it,
saith the Lord.
But
go
ye now unto my place which was in Shiloh,
where - I set my name at the first, and see what I did to it - for
the wickedness of my people Israel.
*****
And
they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day:
And
the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
And
he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
*****
And
now,
because ye have done all these works,
saith the Lord, and I
spake unto you, rising up early and speaking, but ye heard not; and I called you, but ye answered not;
There-fore will I do unto this house, which is called by my name, wherein ye trust, and unto the place which I gave to you and
to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.
*****
For
he
looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven;
For
thy
Maker is thine husband; the Lord of
hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the
Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole
earth shall he be called.
*****
And
I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your brethren,
even the whole seed of Ephraim.
Therefore
pray not thou for this people, neither
lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear thee.
Seest
thou not what they do in the cities of Judah
and in the streets of Jerusalem?
and where thieves break through and steal:
