And they shall
fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with
thee, saith the Lord ISamuel, to deliver thee.

And
the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took
one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
And
the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought
her unto the man.
And
Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be
called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
Therefore
shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife:
and they shall be one flesh.
And
they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

And
Abram said, Lord God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the
steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?
And
Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my
house is mine heir.
And,
behold, the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine
heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.

And
they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah
out of Shechem's house, and went out.
The
sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and spoiled the city, because they had
defiled their sister.
They
took their sheep, and their oxen, and their asses, and that which was in the
city, and that which was in the field,
And
all their wealth, and all their little ones, and their wives took they captive,
and spoiled even all that was in the house.
And
Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, Ye have troubled me to make me to stink among
the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites: and I
being few in number, they shall gather themselves together against me, and slay
me; and I shall be destroyed,
I
and my house.

And
Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is
none so discreet and wise as thou art:
Thou
shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be
ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.
And
Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.
And
Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and
arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;
And he made him to ride
in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee:
and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.

Now
therefore fear the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away
the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in
Egypt; and serve ye the Lord.
And
if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will
serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side
of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for
me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
