Two sons XIII

And they began to be merry.

And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle.
And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ.
*****
But the father said to his servants,  . . .
*****
And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he - put - the man whom he had formed.
**
And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.
**
And Shem and Japheth - took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of - their father;
*****
Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him;
*****
And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee - over all the land of Egypt.
**
lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
**
And Pharaoh took off his ring - from - his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;
*****
and put a ring on his hand,
*****
And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy - shoes from off thy feet, for the place where-on thou standest is holy ground.
*****
and shoes on his feet:
*****
And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetched a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and - he hasted to dress it.
**
But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.

*****
And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it;
*****
There is a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there be just men, unto whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked;
again,
there be wicked men, to whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also is vanity.
Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun.
*****
and let us eat, and be merry:
*****
and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
*****
For this - my son was dead,
*****
And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

*****
and is alive again;
****
Behold, thou hast driven me out - this day from the face of the earth; and from - thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one - that findeth me shall slay me.
**
And Israel said unto Joseph, Do not thy brethren feed the flock in Shechem? -  come, and I will send thee unto them. And he said to him, Here am I.
**
There-fore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
**
And he said to him, Go, I pray thee, see whether it be well with thy brethren, and well with the flocks; and bring me word again. So he sent him out of the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.
*****
he was lost,
*****
And a certain man found him, and, behold, he was wandering in the field: and the man asked him, saying, What seek-est thou?
And he said, I seek my brethren: tell me, I pray thee, where they feed - their flocks.
**
Now the serpent was more subtil - than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made.
**
And the man said, They are departed hence; for I heard them say, Let us go to Do-than. And Joseph went - after - his brethren, and found them in Do-than.
And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him.
**
With whomsoever of thy servants it be found, both let him die, and we also will be my lord's bondmen.
And he said, Now also let it be according unto your words: he with whom it is found shall be my servant; and ye shall be blameless.
*****
and is found. And they began to be merry.

Two sons XII

Butter and honey shall he eat

And the Lord appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;
And he - lift up his eyes - and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him:
**
And he said, What pledge shall I - give thee? And she said, Thy signet, and thy bracelets, and thy staff that is in thine hand. And he gave it her, and came in unto her, and she conceived - by him.
**
Then Joseph - could not refrain him-self before - all them that stood by him; and he cried, - Cause every man - to go out from me. And - there - stood no man with him, - while Joseph made himself - known unto his brethren.
And he wept aloud: and the Egyptians and the house of Pharaoh heard.
**
and when he saw them, he ran to meet them - from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,
And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from - thy servant:
And Abraham - ran unto the herd, and fetched a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it.
**
Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse - the evil, - and choose the good.
**
And it shall come to pass, for the abundance of milk that they shall give he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall - every one eat that is left in the land.
**
And he took - butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it - before them; and he stood - by them - under the tree, and - they did eat.
And they said unto him, - Where is Sarah thy wife?
And he said, Behold, - in the tent.
*****
And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned again-st heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.

Two sons XI

 fell on his neck

And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
***
And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field;
upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat - all the days of thy life:
  ***
And a river - went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence - it was parted, and became - into four heads.
And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth:
and Ham is the father of Canaan.
***
It is not good  - that the man should be alone; I will make him - an - help meet for him.

***
And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives - with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.
**

Now Sarai Abram's wife bare him no children: and she had - an handmaid, an - Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.
**
And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the Lord hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.
***
This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed - after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
**
And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river's side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.
And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the He-brews' children.
*****
But when he was yet a great way off, - - his father saw him, and had compassion,
****
And Rebekah took goodly raiment of her eldest son Esau, which were with her - in the house, and put them upon Jacob her younger son:
**
Among the smooth stones of the stream - is thy portion; they,
they are thy lot: even to them hast thou - poured a drink offering, - thou hast offered a meat offering. Should I receive comfort in these?
Upon a lofty and high mountain hast thou set thy bed: even thither went-est thou up to offer sacrifice.
**
If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, - sin lieth at the door.
*
Behind the doors also and the posts hast thou set up thy remembrance: for thou hast discovered thyself to an-other than me, and art gone up; thou hast enlarged thy bed, and made thee a covenant with them; thou lovedst - their bed where thou saw-est it.
**
And she put the skins of the kids of the goats upon his hands, and upon the smooth of his neck:
And she gave the savoury meat and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob.
 ******

and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
