Her

Who raised

up

the

righteous man from the east,

called him to his foot,

gave the nations before

him,

and

made

him

rule over kings?

he

gave them as the dust to his sword,

and as driven stubble to his bow.

He pursued them,

and passed safely;

even

by the way

that

he

had not gone

with

his feet.

*

And

She again

bare

his brother

And Abel was a keeper of sheep,

*

And every

plant

of

the field before

it

was in the earth,

and

every

herb

of

the field

before it grew:

for

the

Lord God

had not caused

it to rain

upon the earth,

and there

was

not a man

to

till the ground.

*

And the

woman

said unto the serpent,

We

may eat

of

the fruit of the trees

of

the garden:

But of the fruit

of

the tree

which is in

the midst

of

the garden,

Yea God

hath said,

Ye

shall not eat

of

it,

neither shall ye touch it,

lest ye die.

*

And when the workman saw that the tree was good for food,

and that

it

was pleasant to the eyes,

and a tree to be desired to make

one wise,

she

took of the fruit thereof,

and did eat,

and

gave

also unto

her husband

with her;

and he did eat.

And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked;

*

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother,

and shall cleave unto his wife:

and they shall be one flesh.

**

and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

*

Look unto Abraham

your father,

and

unto Sarah that bare you:

for

I

called him alone,

and blessed him,

and increased him.

For

the Lord

shall comfort Zion:

he

will comfort

all her

waste places;

and he

will make

her

wilderness like Eden,

and

her desert

like the garden of the Lord;

joy and gladness shall be found therein,

thanksgiving,

and the voice

of melody.

Hearken unto

me,

my

people;

and give ear unto me,

O my nation:

for a law shall proceed from me, and

I

will make my judgment to rest for a light of the people.

My righteousness is near;

my salvation is gone forth,

and mine arms shall judge the people;

the

isles shall

wait upon me,

and

on

mine arm shall they trust.

*

But he said unto

her,

Thou

speakest as

one

of

the foolish workmen speaketh.

What?

shall

we

receive good at the hand of God,

and

shall

we

not receive evil?

*

Come ye,

and let us go up to the mountain

of the Lord,

to

the

house

of the

God of Jacob;

 and

he

will teach us

of

his ways,

and

we

will walk in his paths:

for out of Zion shall

go forth the law,

and

the word of the Lord

from Jerusalem.
