And Saul
answered and said, Am not I a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes
of Israel? and my family the least of
all the families of the tribe of
Benjamin? wherefore then speakest thou so to me?
*****
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the
kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall
do and teach them, the same shall be called
great in the kingdom of heaven.
***
I
will pass through all thy flock today,
removing from thence all the speckled and spotted
cattle, and all the brown cattle among the sheep, and the spotted
and speckled among the goats: and of such shall be my hire.
So
shall my righteousness answer for me in time to come, when it shall come for my hire before thy face: every one that is not speckled and spotted among the goats, and brown among the sheep, that shall be counted
stolen with me.
And Laban
said, Behold, I would it might be according to thy word.
*****
For I say
unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes
and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
***
Ye
have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill;
and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
But I say
unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment:
and whosoever
shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council:
but whosoever
shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
Therefore
if thou bring thy gift to the altar,
and there rememberest that thy brother
hath ought against thee;
Leave there
thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
***
Lord
God caused
a deep sleep to fall upon Adam,
And it came
to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river.
And, behold,
there came up out of the river seven well favoured kine and fatfleshed;
and they fed in a meadow.
And, behold,
seven other kine came up after them out of the river,
ill favoured and leanfleshed; and stood by the other kine upon the brink of the river.
And the ill
favoured and leanfleshed kine did eat up the seven well favoured
and fat kine. So Pharaoh awoke.
and he slept:
And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him.
And they said one to
another, Behold, this dreamer
cometh.
***
And he slept and dreamed the second time: and, behold, seven ears of corn came up upon one stalk, rank and good.
And, behold,
seven thin ears and blasted with the east wind sprung up after them.
And the seven thin
ears devoured the seven rank and full ears. And Pharaoh awoke, and, behold, it was a dream.
***
From
the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness,
my leanness, woe unto me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously;
yea, the treacherous dealers have dealt very
treacherously.
Fear,
and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth.
And it shall
come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken
in the snare: for the windows from on high are open,
and the foundations of the earth do shake.
The
earth is utterly
broken down, the earth is clean
dissolved, the earth is moved
exceedingly.
The
earth shall reel to
and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed
like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.
And
it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high,
and the kings of the earth upon the earth.
And they
shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit,
and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they
be visited.
*****
Agree
with
thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in
the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the
officer, and thou be cast into prison.
Verily I say
unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost
farthing.
***
Defile
not ye yourselves
in any of these things: for in all these
the nations are defiled which I cast
out before you:
And the land
is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.
Ye
shall therefore
keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of
these abominations; neither any of your
own nation, nor any stranger
that sojourneth among you:
***
These
are the sons of Shem,
after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.
These
are the families of the sons of Noah, after their
generations, in their nations:
and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.
And the whole
earth was of one language, and
of one speech.
***
And Dinah
the daughter of Leah, which she bare
unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.
And when Shechem
the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince
of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled
her.
***
(For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which
were before you, and the land is defiled;)
That the land
spue not you out also, when ye
defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you.
For whosoever
shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off
from among their people.
Therefore
shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye
commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were
committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the Lord your God.
*****
Ye
have
heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
But I say
unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her
hath committed adultery with her already
in his heart.
***
Woe
to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried
up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.
***
And if thy
right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it
from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into
hell.
***
And Lamech
said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt.
***
And Joseph
took them both, Ephraim in his right
hand toward Israel's left hand,
and Manasseh in his left hand toward
Israel's right hand, and brought
them near unto him.
And
Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it
upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the firstborn.
***
Mine
hand also hath laid
the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned
the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.
All ye,
assemble yourselves, and hear; which
among them hath declared these things? The Lord hath loved him: he will do his
pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.
I,
even I, have spoken; yea,
I have called him: I have brought him,
and he shall make his way prosperous.
Come ye
near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that
it was, there am I: and now the Lord God, and his spirit, hath sent me.
Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One
of Israel; I am the Lord thy God
which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.
*****
And if thy right
hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy
members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
***
For in six days
the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and
rested the seventh day: wherefore
the Lord blessed the sabbath day,
and hallowed it.
Honour
thy father and thy
mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
***
And he
said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.
. . .God shall enlarge Japheth, and he
shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall
be his servant.
***
Thou
shalt not kill.
Thou
shalt not commit adultery.
Thou
shalt not steal.
Thou
shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Thou
shalt not covet thy neighbour's
house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing
that is thy neighbour's.
***
And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife,
the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.
***
But whoso
committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it
destroyeth his own soul.
*****
It hath been said, Whosoever
shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing
of divorcement:
*****
But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
*****
*****
But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
*****
And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother's
wife, and marry her, and raise up seed
to thy brother.
***
Again, ye have
heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform
unto the Lord thine oaths:
But I say
unto you, Swear not at all; neither by
heaven; for it is God's throne:
Nor
by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem;
for it is the city of the great King.
Neither
shalt thou swear by thy
head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
Samuel
