Burnt offerings XXII

Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as the Lord had said unto him: and so it was, because he feared his father's household, and the men of the city, that he could not do it by day,
that he did it by night.
And when the men of the city arose early in the morning,
behold,
the altar of Baal was cast down,
and the grove was cut down that was by it,
and the second bullock was offered upon the altar that was built.
***
And we will take ten men of an hundred throughout all the tribes of Israel, and an hundred of a thousand,
and a thousand out of ten thousand,
to fetch victual for the people, that they may do, when they come to Gibeah of Benjamin, according to all the folly that they have wrought in Israel.
So all the men of Israel were gathered against the city, knit together as one man.
And the tribes of Israel sent men through all the tribe of Benjamin,
saying,
What wickedness is this that is done among you?
***
But ten men were found among them that said unto Ishmael, Slay us not:
for we have treasures in the field, of wheat, and of barley, and of oil, and of honey.
So he forbare,
and slew them not among their brethren.

*****
And he took ten men of the elders of the city,
and said,

Sit ye down here.
And they sat down.
*****
Again,
the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found,
he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

*****
And he said unto the kinsman,
Naomi,
that is come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech's:

And I thought to advertise thee,

saying,

Buy it before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it: but if thou wilt not redeem it,
then tell me,
that I may know:

for there is none to redeem it beside thee; and I am - after thee.
And he said,
I will redeem it.

Then said Boaz,
What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess,  the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.

Burnt offerings XXI

The father shall be divided against the son,
and the son against the father;
the mother against the daughter,
and the daughter against the mother;
the mother in law against her daughter in law,
and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
*****
Also he said,
Bring the veil that thou hast upon thee,
and hold it.
And when she held it,
he measured six measures of barley,
***
And the rib,
which the Lord God had taken from man,
made he a workman,
and brought her unto the man.
And Adam said,
This is now bone of my bones,
and flesh of my flesh:
*
she shall be called Woman,
because she was taken out of Man.
***
and laid it on her:
and she went into the city.
*****
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace,
but a sword.
For I am come to set a man at variance against his father,
and the daughter against - her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me:
and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

He that findeth his life shall lose it:
and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward;
and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple,
verily I say unto you,
he shall - in no wise - lose his reward.
*****

Also he said,

Bring the veil that thou hast upon thee,
and hold it.
And when she held it,
he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her:
and she went into the city.
And when she came to her mother in law,
she said,
Who art thou, my daughter?

And she told her all that the man had done to her.

And she said,
These six measures of barley gave he me;
for he said to me,

Go not empty unto thy mother in law.

Then said she,
Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.

Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there:
and, behold,

the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto
whom he said,
Ho,
such a one!

turn aside, sit down here.
And he turned aside, and sat down.
