Chapter V II
And
she - again bare his brother Abel.
And
Abel was a keeper of sheep,
***
And
Adah bare Jabal:
he was the father of such as dwell in
tents,
and
of such as have cattle.
***
And Lot also,
which
went with Abram,
had flocks,
and
herds,
and
tents.
***
And
God said,
Let there
be
light:
and
there was
light.
***
And
God said,
Let
the
waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one
place,
and
let the dry land
appear:
and
it was so.
And
God called
the
dry land Earth;
and
the gathering
together
of the waters called he Seas:
and
God saw
that
it was good.
***
And
Cain said unto the Lord,
My
punishment is greater than I can bear.
***
And
the land was not
able to bear them,
***
And God made the
firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the
waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
***
that they
might
dwell together:
for their
substance was great,
so that they could not dwell together.
***
And
Abel was a keeper of sheep, but
Cain was a tiller of the ground.
***
And
there was
a strife between the herdmen
of Abram's cattle - and
the herdmen
of Lot's cattle:
and
the Canaanite - and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.
And
Abram said
unto Lot,
Let there be no strife,
I
pray thee,
between me and
thee,
and
between my herdmen
and
thy herdmen;
for
we be brethren.
Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself,
I pray thee,
from me:
if thou
wilt take the left hand,
then
I
will
go to the right;
or if thou depart to
the right
hand,
then I will go to the left.
***
And
God made
the
firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above
the firmament:
and it was so.
***
And Adam said,
This is now bone of my
bones,
and
flesh of
my flesh:
she shall be called Workman,
because she was taken out of Man.
Therefore shall a man leave his father
and
his mother,
and
shall cleave
unto
his wife: and they
shall be
one
flesh.
And
they were both naked,
the man
and
his wife,
and
were not ashamed.
***
And
Lot lifted
up
his eyes,
and
beheld all the plain
of
Jordan,
that it was well watered every where, before the Lord destroyed
Sodom
and
Gomorrah,
even as the garden of
the Lord,
like the land of Egypt,
as thou comest unto Zoar.
Then Lot
chose him all
the
plain of Jordan;
and
Lot journeyed
east:
and
they separated
themselves the one from
the other.
Abram dwelled
in
the land of Canaan,
***
And
it came to pass,
as they journeyed from
the east,
that they
found a plain in the land of Shinar;
and
they dwelt
there.
***
and
Lot dwelled
in
the cities
of
the plain,
and
pitched his tent toward Sodom.
