The Marriage
And
thou shalt rejoice in every good
thing which the
Lord - thy God
hath given unto thee,
and
unto thine
house,
thou,
and
the Levite,
and
the stranger that is among you.
When
thou hast made an
end of tithing all the tithes of
thine increase the third year,
which
is the year of tithing,
and
hast given it unto the Levite,
the stranger,
the fatherless,
and
the widow,
that
they may
eat within thy gates,
and
be filled;
**
And,
behold,
one came - and said unto him,
Good Master,
what
- good
thing - shall
I do, that
I
may have
eternal life?
And
he said unto - him,
Why callest thou me
good?
there
is
none good but
one,
that is,
God:
but
if
thou wilt
enter
into life,
keep
the commandments.
He saith unto him, Which?
Emmanuel
said,
Thou
shalt do no murder,
Thou
shalt not commit adultery,
Thou
shalt not steal,
Thou
shalt not bear false witness,
Honour thy father and thy mother:
and,
Thou shalt love thy neighbour
as thyself.
*
for
the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth;
*
For it
increaseth.
Thou
huntest me
as
a fierce lion: and again thou
shewest thyself marvellous upon me.
Thou
renewest thy
witnesses
against me,
and
increasest thine indignation
upon me;
changes
and war
are
against me.
Wherefore
then hast thou brought me forth out
of
the womb? Oh
that I
had given up the ghost, and no
eye had
seen me!
I
should
have been as though I had not been;
I
should have been carried from the womb
to the grave.
Are not my days few?
cease
then,
and
let me alone,
that
I may take comfort a little,
Before
I go whence
I
shall not
return,
even
to
the land of darkness and the shadow
of
death;
A
land of darkness,
as
darkness itself;
and
of the shadow of death, without
any
order,
and
where the light
is as darkness.
*
The young
man
saith unto him,
All
these things have
I kept from
my youth up:
what lack
I yet?
**
And
Jacob said,
Sell
me this day
thy birthright.
**
Emmanuel
said unto him,
If
thou
wilt be perfect, go and
sell that
thou hast,
and - - give to
the poor,
and
thou shalt have treasure in
heaven:
and
come and follow me.
***
I
made me
pools of water,
to
water therewith
the wood - that bringeth forth
trees:
I got me servants - and maidens, and had servants born in my house;
also
I
had great possessions of great - and small cattle - above all that were in Jerusalem before me:
gathered
me - also silver - and gold,
and
the peculiar
treasure
of kings - and of the provinces:
I
gat me
men singers - and workmen singers,
and
the delights
of
the sons
of
men,
as
musical instruments,
and
that of all sorts.
So I was great,
and
increased more than all that were before me in
Jerusalem:
also
my wisdom remained with me.
***
But when the young man
heard that saying, he went
away sorrowful:
for
he had great possessions.
Then
said Emmanuel
unto his disciples,
Verily I say unto you,
That
a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
And
again I say unto you,
It
is easier
for a camel to go
through
the eye
of
a needle,
than
for
a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
When
his disciples
heard
it,
they
were
exceedingly amazed,
saying,
Who
then
can be saved?
***
***
and it came to pass,
when
they were in the field,
that
Cain rose up against
Abel
his brother,
and
slew him.
***
And
it came to pass,
that,
when
Abram was
come into Egypt,
the Egyptians beheld the workman that she was very fair.
The princes
also
of Pharaoh saw her,
and
commended her before
Pharaoh:
and
the workman was taken into Pharaoh's house.
***
But Emmanuel beheld them,
and said unto them,
With
men this is impossible;
but
with
God - all
things are possible.
