Now
And
Adam said,
This
is now bone of my bones,
and
flesh of my flesh:
she shall be called Workman, because
she was taken out of Man.
Therefore shall a man leave his father
- and his mother,
and
shall cleave
unto his wife:
and
they shall be one flesh.
And
they were both naked, the man and his wife,
and
were not ashamed.
***
They
were all ashamed of a people that could not
profit them, nor be an help
nor profit,
but
a shame,
and
also a reproach.
The burden of the beasts of the south:
into the land of trouble and anguish,
from
whence come the young and old
lion,
the viper and fiery flying
serpent, they
will carry their riches upon the shoulders of
young asses,
and
their treasures upon the bunches of camels,
to a people that
shall not profit them.
***
Now
there was a day when the sons
of God came to present themselves before
the Lord,
and
Satan came also am-ong them.
And
the Lord said unto Satan, Whence
comest thou?
Then
Satan answered the Lord, and said,
From
going to and fro in the earth,
and
from walking up and down in it.
And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou
considered
my servant Job, that there is none
like him in the earth,
a
perfect and
- an upright man, one
that
feareth God, and escheweth evil?
Then
Satan answered the Lord,
***
And
Esau said,
Behold,
I
am at
the point to die:
and
what profit shall this birthright do to me?
***
and
said,
Doth Job fear
God
for nought?
Hast not
thou made - an hedge
about him,
and
about his house,
and
about all that
he hath on every
side?
thou
hast blessed
the work
of
his hands,
and
his substance is
increased
in the land.
But
put forth thine hand
now,
and
touch all
that he hath,
and
he will curse thee - to thy face.
And
the Lord said unto Satan, Behold,
all
that he hath is in thy power;
only
upon himself put not forth thine
hand.
So
Satan went
forth -
from the presence of the Lord.
***
And
the whole earth was of one language,
and
of one speech.
And
it came to pass,
**
And
it shall come to pass in
that day,
that
the Lord
shall set
his hand again the second
time to recover the remnant
of his people, which shall be left,
from
Assyria,
and
from Egypt,
and
from Pathros,
and
from Cush,
and
from Elam,
and from Shinar,
and
from Hamath,
and
from the islands of the sea.
And
he shall set up an ensign
for the nations,
and
shall assemble the outcasts of Israel,
and
gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners
of the earth.
**
as
they journeyed from the east,
that
they found a plain
in the
land of Shinar;
and
they dwelt
there.
And
they said
one - to an-other,
Go to,
let
us make brick, and burn
them
throughly.
And
they had brick for stone,
and slime had they for mortar.
And
they said,
Go
to,
let
us build
us a city and a tower,
whose top may reach unto heaven;
and let us make us a name,
lest we be scattered abroad upon the face
of
the whole earth.
***
And
the beginning
of
his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
. . .
**
The children
of
Shem; Elam,
and
Asshur,
**
Out
of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh,
(Modern day Mosul) and the city
Rehoboth, and Calah,
And
Resen between
Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city.
