If thou
- doest well, - shalt thou
- not be
accepted?
Sin
Even
by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with
blessings of heaven above,
blessings of the deep that lieth
under, blessings of the
breasts, and of the womb:
***
and
if thou
doest not
well,
sin lieth
at the door.

And
he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant
of servants shall he
be
unto his brethren.

And
the Hivite, and the Arkite, and
the Sinite,
And
the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and
the Hamathite: and afterward
were the families of the Canaanites
spread abroad.
And
the border of the Canaanites
was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.

And unto
thee shall be his desire, and thou
shalt rule over him.
And Cain talked with Abel his brother:
So
Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy
and five years old when he
departed
out of Haran.
And
Abram took Sarai his wife, and
Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they
had
gotten in Haran; and they went
forth
to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.
And
Abram passed through the land
unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.

And Abram
was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.
And he went
on his journeys from the south even to Bethel, unto the place
where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai;

And I will restore thy judges as at
the first,
and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city
of righteousness, the faithful
city.
Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.
And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the Lord shall be consumed.

Then Jacob said
unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among
you, and be clean, and change your garments:
And let us
arise, and go up to Bethel;
and I will make there an altar unto
God, who answered me in the day
of my distress, and was with me in the way
which I went.
And they
gave unto
Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in
their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.
*****
For they shall be
ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen.
For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that
hath no water.
And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them.
The word that Isaiah
the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and
Jerusalem.

Unto the place of the altar,
which he had made there at the first:

And Abel, he also
brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
***
and there
Abram called on
the name of the Lord.
And Lot also, which went
with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.
