And the eyes
of them that see shall not be dim, and the ears of them that hear shall hearken. The heart
also of the rash shall understand
knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers shall be ready to
speak plainly.
***
Thy
dead men shall live,
together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy
dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.
Come, my
people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until
the indignation be overpast.
***
But his bow abode in strength, and the arms
of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God
of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd,
the stone of Israel:)
***
Enter into the
rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the Lord,
and for the glory of his majesty. The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord alone
shall be exalted in that day.
***
And God saw
the light that it was good: God divided the light
from the darkness God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night.
***
But of the tree
of the knowledge of good and
evil, thou shalt not eat of it in the
day that thou eatest thereof
thou shalt surely die.
***
Thus the heavens
and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made;
and he
rested on the seventh day from all his
work which he had made.
***
And God
blessed the seventh day and sanctified it: because that in it he
had rested from all his work which God created and made.
***
And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the
waters.
***
And waters
prevailed and were increased greatly
upon the earth and the ark went upon the face of the waters.
***
And the waters
prevailed exceedingly upon the earth;
and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.
Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered. And all flesh died
that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast,
and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:
***
In a little wrath I hid my face from thee
for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the
Lord thy Redeemer. For this is as the waters of Noah unto me:
for as I have sworn that the waters of
Noah should no more go over the earth; so
have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.
For the mountains
shall depart, and the hills be
removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the
covenant of my peace be removed,
saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee.
***
And they
said one to another, Go to, let us
make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had
they for mortar.
***
But
the dove found no rest for the sole
of her foot, and she returned unto
him into the ark, for the waters were on
the face of the whole earth:
***
And they said,
Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven;
and let us make us a name, lest we be
scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
***
And there
shall be upon every high mountain,
and upon every high hill, rivers and streams of waters in the
day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.
***
For the day
of the Lord of hosts shall be upon
every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up;
and he shall be brought low:
And upon all
the cedars of Lebanon, that are high
and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan,
And upon all
the high mountains, and upon all the
hills that are lifted up, And upon every high tower, and upon every fenced wall,
And upon all
the ships of Tarshish, and upon all
pleasant pictures.
And the loftiness
of man shall be bowed down, and
the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the Lord alone
shall be exalted in that day.
*****
The great day
of the Lord is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even
the voice of the day of the Lord: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.
That
day
is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness
and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds
and thick darkness,
A day of the
trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.
***
Thus
did Noah; according to
all that God commanded him, so
did he. And the Lord said unto Noah, Come
thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous
before me in this generation.
***
And I
will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the Lord: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh
as the dung.
*****
He
that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow
of the Almighty.
I
will
say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my
fortress: my God;
in him
will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of
the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
He
shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth
shall be thy shield and buckler.
***
And when Abram heard
that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.
And he
divided himself against them, he and
his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on
the left hand of Damascus.
***
Thou
shalt not be afraid for the terror by night;
nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction
that wasteth at noonday.
A
thousand shall fall at thy
side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the
reward of the wicked.Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even
the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall
any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over
thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands,
lest thou dash thy foot
against a stone.
Thou
shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon
shalt thou trample under feet. Because he hath set his love upon
me, therefore will I deliver him:
I
will set him on high,
because he hath known my name.
He
shall
call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble;
I
will
deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy
him, and shew him my salvation. It is a
good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing
praises unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy loving kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night,
Samuel
