For
God
doth know that in the day ye
eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened,
and
ye shall be as gods,
knowing
good
and evil.

And
the Lord said unto Cain,
Where
is Abel thy brother?
And
he
said,
I
know
not:
*
Therefore
I
said,
Hearken
to
me;
I
also
will shew mine opinion.
Behold,
I
waited for
your
words;
I
gave ear to your reasons,
whilst
ye
searched
out
what to say.
Yea,
I
attended unto you,
and,
behold,
there
was none
of
you that
convinced
Job,
or that
answered his words:
Lest
ye
should say,
We
have
found out wisdom:
**
And
Jacob sent
and
called Rachel
and
Leah
to the field unto his flock,
And
said unto them,
I
see your
father's countenance,
that
it
is
not
toward me
as
before;
but
the God
of
my
father hath
been with me.
***
God
thrusteth
him down,
not
man.
Now
he
hath not
directed
his
words against
me:
neither will
I
answer
him
with
your speeches.
They
were amazed,
they
answered no more:
they
left
off speaking.
When
I
had waited,
(for they
spake not,

And
the Spirit of God moved upon
the face of the waters.

We may
eat of the fruit of the trees of
the garden:
*
But
of the fruit of the tree which
is
in
the
midst of the garden,
God
hath
said,
Ye
shall not
eat of it,
*
Depart ye,
depart ye,
go ye
out
from thence,
touch
no unclean thing;
go ye out
of the midst of her;
be ye clean,
that bear
the
vessels
of
the Lord.
*
neither
shall ye touch it,
lest
ye
die.
*
And
Jacob
said
to
Simeon
and Levi,
Ye
have
troubled
me
to
make me
to
stink
among
the inhabitants
of
the
land,
among
the
Canaanites
and
the Perizzites:
and
I
being
few in number,
they
shall gather themselves together
against me,
and
slay me;
**
For
thus saith the Lord,
Ye
have sold yourselves
for nought;
and ye shall
be
redeemed without money.
*
And
he
said
unto him,
My lord
knoweth
that
the children are tender,
and
the flocks
and
herds with young
are
with me:
and
if men should overdrive
them
one
day,
all the
flock
will die.

And
Lamech
said
unto
his
wives,
Adah
and
Zillah,
Hear
my
voice;
ye
wives
of
Lamech,
hearken
unto my speech:
*
Hearken unto me,
ye
stouthearted,
that are
far from
righteousness:
I
bring near my righteousness;
it
shall not be far off,
and my salvation shall not tarry:
and
I
will place salvation
in Zion
for Israel
my glory.
Come down,
and sit in the dust,
O
virgin daughter of Babylon,
sit on the ground:
*
Then Job arose,
and rent his mantle,
and shaved his head,
and fell down upon
the
ground,
and worshipped,
*
there is no throne,
O
daughter of the
Chaldeans:
for thou
shalt
no more be called tender
and delicate.
**
O
Lord
God,
thou
hast begun
to
shew
thy
servant
thy greatness,
and
thy mighty hand:
for
what
God is there in
heaven
or
in earth,
that
can
do according
to
thy
works,
and
according
to
thy
might?
I
pray thee,
let me go over,
and see the good land that is beyond Jordan,
that goodly mountain,
and Lebanon.
But the Lord was wroth
with me
for
your sakes,
and would not hear me:
and the Lord said unto
me,
Let it suffice thee;
speak no more unto me
of
this matter.
Get
thee up into the top of Pisgah,
and
lift up
thine
eyes
westward,
and
northward,
and
southward,
and
eastward,
and
behold
it
with
thine eyes:
for
thou
shalt
not go over this Jordan.
**
And
I
commanded
Joshua
at
that
time,
saying,
Thine
eyes
have seen all that the Lord your
God hath done unto these two kings:
so
shall
the Lord do unto
all
the
kingdoms whither thou passest.
Ye
shall
not fear them:
for
the
Lord your
God
he
shall
fight for you.
*
Take the millstones,
and grind meal:
uncover thy locks,
make bare the leg,
uncover the thigh,
pass over the rivers.
Thy
nakedness shall be uncovered,
yea,
thy
shame shall be seen:
*
To
me belongeth
vengeance,
and
recompence;
their
foot
shall slide in due time:
for
the
day
of
their
calamity
is
at
hand,
and
the things
that
shall
come upon
them
make
haste.
*
I
will take vengeance,
and
I
will not meet thee as a man.
As for our redeemer,
the Lord of hosts is his
name,
the
Holy One of Israel.
Sit thou silent,
and get thee into darkness,
O
daughter
of the
Chaldeans:
for thou shalt no more be called,
The lady of kingdoms.
I
was wroth with my people,
I
have polluted mine
inheritance,
and given them into thine hand:
thou didst
shew them
no mercy;
upon
the
ancient
hast thou
very heavily laid thy yoke.
And thou
saidst,
I
shall be
a
lady
for ever:
so
that thou
didst not lay these things
to
thy heart,
neither didst remember
the
latter end
of
it.

He
Heweth
him down cedars,
and taketh the cypress
and the oak,
which he strengtheneth
for himself
among
the trees
of
the forest:
he planteth an ash,
*
and
were not ashamed.
*
and the rain doth nourish it.
Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof,
and warm himself;
yea,
he kindleth it,
and baketh bread;
yea,
he maketh a god,
and worshippeth it;
he
maketh
it
a graven image,
and falleth down
thereto.
*
So
they sat down with
him
upon the ground seven days
and seven nights,
and
none spake a word unto him:
for they saw
that
his
grief was very
great.

but
stood still,

And
the Lord said unto Satan,
Behold,
all
that
he hath
is in thy
power;
*
The
Lord
is
on
my
side;
I
will
not fear:
what
can man do
unto me?
The
Lord
taketh
my part
with
them
that help me:
*
If
thou doest well,
shalt
thou not be accepted?
and
if
thou
doest not well,
Apil sin
lieth
at the door.
And
unto
thee
shall
be his
desire,
and thou shalt rule over
him.
