The other Key

And
it
came to pass,
after the year was expired,
at the time when kings go forth to battle,
 that David sent Joab, and his servants with him,
and all Israel;
and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah.

But
David tarried still at Jerusalem.
And it came to pass in an eveningtide,
that David
arose
from off his bed,
and
walked upon
the
roof of the king's house:
**
Therefore Sarah laughed
within
herself,
saying,
After I am waxed old shall
I
have pleasure,
my lord
being old also?

**

and
from
the
roof
he
saw a woman washing
herself;
*
And it came to pass,
when
he
was come near to enter into Egypt,
that
he
said unto Sarai his wife,
Behold now,
I know that
thou art a fair
woman
to look upon:
*
but
Rachel was beautiful
and
well favoured.
**
Now
he
was ruddy,
and
withal of a beautiful
**
and
the woman was
very beautiful
to
look upon.
And David sent and inquired after the woman.
And one said,

**
Is not this Bath-sheba,
the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?

And
David
sent messengers,

and
took her;

and
she

came in unto him, and he lay with her;
**
And they were both naked,
the man
and
his wife,
and
were
not as-hamed.
**

for she
which hath opened
her mouth
to receive thy brother's blood
from thy hand;

was purified
 from her

uncleanness
:

and
she
returned
unto
her house.
**
She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
Strength and honour
are her clothing;
and
 she
shall rejoice in time to come.

She openeth her mouth with wisdom;
and
in her tongue is the law of kindness.

She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

**
And
the woman conceived,
and sent and told David,
and said,
I am
with child.
**
The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.
The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
*
And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

*
Then he saith,
I
will return
into
my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.

IMMANUEL this way cometh

in
the

image
of
God

created
he

him;
***.

And
the
Lord Edom
said unto

him,
Who hath made man's mouth?

or
who maketh the dumb,
or deaf,
or the seeing,
or the blind?
have not
I the Lord?

Now
therefore go,
and
I
will be with
thy
mouth,

and
teach thee
what
thou shalt say.
**
And he said,
O
my Lord,

send,
**
For
God,
said she,
hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel,
whom
Cain slew.

**
I pray thee,
by
the hand
of
him
whom
thou wilt send.

And
the
anger
of
the Lord was kindled against Moses, And the Lord
said
unto Moses,
Where
is Abel  thy brother?
*
And So God
called
the
light Day,
and
the darkness he called Night.
*
And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

*
And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh:
she
shall
be called Woman,
**
And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth,
and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

***.
and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah.

**
because
she
was
taken out of Man.
*
And the children struggled together within her;
and
she said,

If it be so,
why
am
I
thus?

***.
And
if it be not so

now,
who
will make me a liar,
and
make my speech nothing worth?

How hast thou
helped him that is without power?
how
savest thou the arm that hath
no strength?
How
hast thou
counselled
him
that
hath no wisdom?
and
how
hast thou
plentifully declared
the thing
as it is?
**
And Joseph said unto them, Fear not:
for
am I
in
the place of God?

But as for you,
ye thought evil against me;
but God
meant it unto good,
to bring to pass,
as it is this day,
to save much people alive.

Now
therefore fear ye not:
IMMANUEL
will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.

***.
To
whom
hast thou
uttered words?
and
whose spirit came from thee?

**.

And she went to inquire of the Lord.
**
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;
and man became a living so-rule.

**

Seth . . : and he begat sons and daughters:
. . . Enos . . ., and begat sons and daughters:
So on and so forth
*
And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine:
and he was the priest of the most high God.
And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:

*
When the Most High divided to the nations their inheritance,
when he separated the sons of Adam,
he
set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.

For the Lord's portion
is
his people;
*
And Jacob said,
Sell me this day
thy birthright.
**
Jacob
is the lot
of
his inheritance.
***.

And
he
said,
What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood   crieth unto me
from
the
ground.

And
now
art thou
cursed
from the earth,

which hath opened her
Shelomidth
mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand;
*
And the children struggled
together
within her;
**

And Moses said unto the Lord,
My
punishment is greater than
I
can bear.
**
And I will take away mine hand,
And
thou
shalt see my back parts:
**
I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair:
I
hid not
my face

from
shame and spitting.
For the Lord God IMMANUEL will help me;
therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint,
and
I know
that ISamuelO
 shall not be ashamed.

IMMANUEL
is near that
justifieth me;
who
will contend with me?
let us stand together:
who is mine
adversary?

let him come near to me.

***.
but
my face
shall not be seen.
**
Now the names of the twelve apostles are these;
The first,
Simon,
*
And I will restore
thy judges
as at
 the first,
**
And his father refused,
And
said,
I know it,

my son,

I know it:
***.
And the Lord said unto Moses, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto
the first:

and
I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables,
which
thou brakest.
*
And
if thou doest not well,
sin
lieth at the door.
**
And
God said,
Let there be lights

in
the firmament
of
the
heaven to divide
 the day
from
the night;

and
let them
be for signs,
and
for seasons,
and
for days,
 and years:
And let them be for lights
in
the firmament
of
the
heaven to give light upon the earth:
and
it was so.
*
And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest,
and
thou shalt put
them
in the ark.
And I made an ark of shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first,
**
Hearken unto me,
O Jacob and Israel,
my called;
I am he;
I am the first,
I
also
am the last.
Mine hand
also
hath
laid the foundation of the earth,
**
And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel's left hand,
and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel's right hand, and brought them near unto him.
And Israel stretched out his right hand,
and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger,
and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, guiding his hands wittingly;
for
Manasseh was
the firstborn.
***.
and
my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.

**
And the serpent said unto the woman,
Ye
shall not surely die:

***.
All
ye,
assemble yourselves,
and hear;
which among them hath declared these things?
The Lord hath loved him:
he
will do his pleasure
on Babylon,
and
his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.

I,
even
I,
have spoken;
I
I have called him:
I have brought him,
and he shall make his way prosperous.
***.
And
went up into
the
mount,
 having the two tables
in
mine hand.
And
he
wrote on the tables,
according to the first writing,
the
ten commandments,
which the Lord spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire
in the day of
the
assembly:
**
And the Lord had respect unto
Aaron
and to his offering:

***.
and
the
Lord gave them
unto me.
**
Behold,
thou
hast driven
me
out this day
 from
the
face of the earth;
and
from
thy face
shall I be hid;
*
So
God created man
in his own
image
**
After this
opened
Aaron
his
mouth,
and
cursed his day.
And
I
spake,
and said,
**
And Cush begat Nimrod:
He
began to be a mighty
one
in the earth.

Let the day perish wherein
I
was born,
and

the night in which it was said,
There
is a man child conceived.
Let that day be darkness;
let not God regard it from above, neither
let the light shine upon it.
Let darkness and the shadow of death stain it;
let a cloud dwell upon it;
let the blackness of the day terrify it.
**
I
be hid;

and
I
shall be a fugitive
and a vagabond
in the earth;
and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.
**
And the Lord said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:
And it shall come
to pass,
while
my glory
passeth by,
*
for it
repenteth
me

that
I
have made them.
***.

that
I
will put thee in a clift of the rock,
and
will cover thee with
my hand
while
I
pass by:

***,
And
he said,
Is

not
Aaron the Levite
thy
brother?

I know

that
he
can speak well.

And also,
behold,
he
cometh forth to meet thee:

and
when he seeth thee,

he
will be glad
in his heart.
