God with us

Then said the Lord unto Isaiah,
Go forth now to meet Ahaz,
thou, and Shearjashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller's field;

And say unto him,
Take heed,
and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted for the two tails of these smoking firebrands,
for the fierce anger of Rezin with Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.

Because Syria,
Ephraim,
and the son of Remaliah, have taken evil counsel against thee,

saying,
Let us go up against Judah,
and vex it,
and let us make a breach therein for us, and set a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeal:

Thus saith the Lord God, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.
For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin;
and within threescore and five years shall Ephraim be broken, that it be not a people.

And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah's son. If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.

Moreover the Lord spake
again unto Ahaz,
saying,

Ask thee a sign of the Lord thy God;
ask it either in the depth, - or in the height above.

But Ahaz said,
I will not ask, neither will I tempt the Lord.

And he said,
Hear ye now,
O house of David;
Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign;

Behold,
a virgin shall conceive,
and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the d-evil, and choose the good.

For before the child shall know to refuse the d-evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.

The Lord shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father's house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria.

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall hiss for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.

And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones,
and flesh of my flesh:
she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

And she shall bring forth a son,
and thou shalt call his name
EMMANUEL:
for he shall save his people from their sins.

Now all this was done,
that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet,
saying,
Behold,
a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son,
and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is,
God with us.

How long? Not long

At the same time spake the Lord by Isaiah the son of
Amoz, saying,
Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins,
and put off thy shoe from thy foot.

And he did so,
walking naked and barefoot.
And the Lord said,

Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia;
So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians captives,
young and old, naked and barefoot, even with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.

And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.

And the inhabitant of this isle shall say in that day,
Behold,
such is our expectation, whither we flee for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria:
and how shall we escape?
The burden of the desert of the sea. As whirlwinds in the south pass through;
so it cometh from the desert, from a terrible land.
A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous dealer - dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth.
Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Media;
all the sighing thereof have I made to cease.

Therefore are my loins filled with pain:
pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a workman that travaileth:
I was bowed down at the hearing of it;
I was dismayed at the seeing of it.
My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me:
the night of my pleasure hath he turned into fear unto me.
Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower,
eat,
drink:
arise,
ye princes, and anoint the shield.
For thus hath the Lord said unto me,
Go,
 set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth.
And he saw a chariot with a couple of horsemen,
a chariot of asses,
and a chariot of camels; and he hearkened diligently with much heed:
And he cried,
A lion:
My lord, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime, and I am set in my ward whole nights:

And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen.
And he answered and said,
Babylon is fallen,
is fallen;
and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground.
O my threshing,
and the corn of my floor: that which - I have heard of the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel,
have I declared unto you.

The burden of Dumah.

He calleth to me out of Seir,
Watchman,

what of the night?
Watchman, what of the night?

The watchman said,
The morning cometh, and also the night:
if ye will inquire,
inquire ye:
return, come.

The burden upon Arabia.
In the forest in Arabia shall ye lodge,
O ye travelling companies of Dedanim.
The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty,
they prevented with their bread him that fled.

For they fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war.

For thus hath the Lord said unto me,
Within a year, according to the years of an hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail:

And the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished:

for the Lord God ISamuelyeaon of Israel hath spoken it.
