Burnt offerings IX

Ruth
And God said,
Let us make man in our image,
after our likeness:
and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea,
and over the fowl of the air,
and over the cattle,
and over all the earth,
and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

And the firstborn
said  unto the
younger,
Our father is old,
and there is not a man in the earth - to come in unto us - after the manner of - all the earth:
Come, let us make - our father drink wine,
**
If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted?
and if thou doest not well,
sin lieth at the door.
**
and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
***
As for that night,
let darkness seize upon it;
let it not be joined unto the days of the year,
let it not come into the number of the months.
Lo,
let that night be solitary,
let no joyful voice come therein.
Let them curse it that curse the day,
who are ready to raise up their mourning.
***
Behold,
these shall come from far:
and,
lo,
these from the north and from the west;
and these from the land of Sinim.
Sing,
O heavens;
and
be joyful,
O earth;
and break forth into singing,
O mountains:
for the Lord hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted.
***
And they made their father drink wine that night:
and the firstborn went in,
and lay with her father;
and he perceived not when she lay down,
nor when she arose.
***
And when she was risen up to glean,
Boaz commanded his young men,
saying,

Let her glean - even among the sheaves, and reproach her not:
**
And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt.
***
And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord,
***
And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh,
and went throughout all the land of Egypt.
And in the seven plenteous years the earth brought forth by handfuls.
And he gathered up all the food of the seven years, - which were in the land of Egypt,
**
Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan,
and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain,
and pitched his tent toward Sodom.
**
and laid up the food in the cities:
the food of the field,
which was round about every city,
laid he up in the same.
*****
And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her,
and leave them,
that she may glean them,
and rebuke her not.
So she gleaned in the field until even,
and beat out that she had gleaned:
and it was about an ephah of barley.

I mean every word, jot syllable

Burn baby burn
For the Lord's portion is his people;
Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness;

he led him about,

And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh:
And I will make thee swear by the Lord, the God of heaven,
and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:
*
And he said,

Blessed be the Lord God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth:
I being in the way, the Lord led me to the house of my master's brethren.
*
And I bowed down my head, and worshipped the Lord,
and blessed the Lord God of my master Abraham, which had led me in the right way to take my master's brother's daughter unto his son.
*
Behold,
Rebekah is before thee, take her and go, and let her be thy master's son's wife, as the Lord hath spoken.
And it came to pass, that, when Abraham's servant heard their words,
he worshipped the Lord, bowing himself to the earth.
*
he instructed him,
And Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain,
an instructor of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah.
he kept him
as the apple of his eye.
*
Of fowls also of the air by sevens,
the male and the female;
to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.
 *
As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings,
taketh them, beareth them on her wings:
*
So the Lord alone did lead him,
and there was no strange god with him.

He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields;
and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock;

Butter of kine,
and milk of sheep,
with fat of lambs,
and rams of the breed of Bashan,
and goats, with the fat of kidneys of wheat;
and thou didst drink the pure blood of the grape.

But Jeshurun waxed fat, - and kicked:
thou art waxen fat, - thou art grown thick, - thou art covered with fatness;
then he forsook God which made him, - and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.

They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger.
They sacrificed unto d-evils, - not to God;
to gods whom they knew not, - to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.

Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.

And when the Lord saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons,
and of his daughters.

And he said,
I will hide my face from them, - I will see what their end shall be:
for they are a very froward generation, - children in whom is no faith.

They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God;
they have provoked me to anger with their vanities:
and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people;

I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.

For a fire is kindled in mine anger,
and shall burn unto the lowest hell,
and shall consume the earth with her increase,
and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

I will heap mischiefs upon them;
I will spend mine arrows upon them.

They shall be burnt with hunger,
and devoured with burning heat,
and with bitter destruction:
I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust.

The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin,
the suckling also with the man of gray hairs.
