Are there any among the vanities of
the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou
he, O Lord our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all
these things.
Then said the Lord unto me, Though
Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people:
cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth.
And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee, , Whither shall we go forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith
the Lord; Such as are for death, to
death; and such as are for the
sword, to the sword; and such as are
for the famine, to the famine; and such
as are for the captivity, to the captivity.
*****
These
are the generations of the heavens and of
the earth - when they were created,
in the day - that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens,
**
Therefore
shall a man leave his father
and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife:
- and they shall be one flesh.
*
ye
are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me.
*
I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me
from
all my fears.
They looked
unto him,
and were lightened:
and their faces were not ashamed.
*
And
they were both naked, the man and
his wife,
and were not ashamed.
**
And
the eyes of them
both
were opened, and they knew that they
were naked; and they
sewed
fig leaves together, and
made themselves
aprons.
**
And
the evening and the morning were the first
day.
*
And
they heard the voice of the Lord
God walking in the garden in the cool of the day:
**
And
Cain talked with
Abel - his
brother: and it
came to pass, - when they were in the field, - that Cain rose up against
Abel his brother, and
slew him.
**
In
the dark they
dig
through houses, which they had marked for - themselves in the
daytime:
they know
not
the light. For the morning is to them even as the shadow
of death:
*
That
the sons
of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair;
and they took them wives of all - which
they chose.
**
There
were giants in the earth in those days; and also
- after that,
when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men,
and they bare children to -them,
the same became
mighty
men which were of old, men of
renown.
*
So God
created man - in his own image, in the image - of God created he him;
male
and female created he
them.
*
Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts,
. . .
***
And
of every living thing of - all flesh,
two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive
with thee; - they
shall be male and female.
**
And God
said, Let us make man in our image, - after our likeness: and let
them have dominion over the fish
of the sea, and over the - fowl of the air, …
***
They,
and every beast - after his kind, and all the cattle - after their kind,
- and every creeping thing that
creepeth upon the earth - after his kind, and every fowl - after his kind, every bird
of
every sort.
**
And
they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of - all flesh, wherein is
the breath
of life.
And
they that went in, went in male and
female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the Lord
shut him in.
**
And
every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground,
both
man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only
remained alive, and they
that
were with him in the ark.
**
Bring
forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth;
that
they may
breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.
**
And
the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast
of
the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.
**
And
they were both naked, the man and
his wife,
and were not ashamed.
*
And
Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it
upon both their shoulders, and
went backward, and
covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, - and
they saw not their father's nakedness.
**
And
it came to pass, as they journeyed from
the
east,
- that
they found
a plain in the land of Shinar; and they
dwelt
there.
And
they said one to an-other, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them
throughly.
And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar.
And
they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top
may reach unto heaven;
and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered
abroad
upon the face of
the whole earth.
*
And
to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: - then began men to call upon the name of the Lord.
*
And
God said, Let there be lights
in
the firmament of the heaven to - divide the day - from the night; and let them be for signs, and for sea-sons, and for days, and years:
And
let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to - give
light
upon the earth: and it was so.
*
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God
created he him; male and female created he
them.
*
And God said,
Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and
let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air,
***
And
it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
*
Which
was the son of Enos, which was the son
of Seth, which was the son of Adam,
which
was the son of God.
And
Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: …
And
to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call
upon the name of the Lord.
This is the book of the generations
of Adam.
In
the day that God created man,
in the likeness of God made he him;
Male
- and female created he them;
and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
And
Adam lived an hundred and thirty
years, and begat a son in his own
likeness,
- after his image;
and called his name Seth:
And
the days of Adam - after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred
years: and he begat sons and daughters:
And
all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and
he died.
And
Seth lived an hundred and five years, and
begat Enos: . . .and begat sons and
daughters:
And
Enos lived ninety years, and begat Cainan:. . . and
begat sons and daughters: . . .: and he died.
And
Cainan lived seventy years, and begat Mahalaleel:. . . and begat sons and daughters: . . and he
died.
And
Mahalaleel lived sixty and five
years, and begat Jared: . .. and begat sons and daughters:. . and he died.
And
Jared lived an
hundred
sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch:. . .and begat sons and daughters:. . . and he died.
For God
And
Enoch lived sixty
and five years, and begat Methuselah:
And
Enoch walked with God -
after he begat
Methuselah -three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
And
all the days
of
Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:
*
So
God created man - in his own image,
in the image of
God
created he him; male and female created he them.
*
And
Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God
took him.
And
Methuselah lived
an hundred eighty and seven years,
and begat Lamech:. . . and begat sons and daughters: . . . and he died.
And Lamech lived
an hundred eighty and two years, and
begat
a
son:
And he
called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work
and toil of our hands,
because of the ground which the Lord hath cursed.
*
And
to Seth, to him also
there
was born a
son; and he
called
his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the Lord.
*
And
it came to pass, when men
began
to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
That
the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
***
And
the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children
of
men builded.
And
the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they
have
all one language; and this they begin
to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them,
which they have imagined to do.
Go
to, let us go down, and there
confound
their language, that they may not
understand one another's speech.
So
the Lord scattered
them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left
off - to build the city.
Therefore
is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter - them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
And
they journeyed from O-both, and pitched at Ijeabarim,
in the wilderness
which
is before Moab, toward
the - sunrising.
From
thence - they
removed, and pitched in the
valley of Zared.
From
thence - they
removed, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, which is in the wilderness that cometh out of the coasts
of the Amorites: for Arnon is the
border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.
***
And
the firstborn bare a son,
and called his
name Moab:
the same is
the father
of the Moabites unto this day.
***
Get thee up into this mountain Abarim, unto mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, that is over against Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan, which I give
unto the children of Israel for a possession:
And
die in the mount whither thou goest up, and be gathered unto thy
people;
as Aaron thy
brother died in mount Hor, and was gathered unto his people:
Because
ye trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the
waters of MeribahKadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because ye
sanctified
me not in the midst of the children
of Israel.
Yet
thou shalt see the land before thee; but thou shalt not go thither unto
the land which I give the children
of Israel.
And
this is the blessing, wherewith Moses the man of God blessed the children
of Israel before his death.
And
he said, The Lord came from
Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them;
he shined forth from mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of
saints: from his right hand went a fiery law - for them.
Yea,
he loved the people; all his saints are in thy hand:
and they sat
down at thy feet; every
one shall receive of thy words.
Moses
commanded us a law, even the inheritance of the congregation of Jacob.
And
he was king in Jeshurun,
when the heads of the people and the tribes of Israel were gathered together.
Let
Reuben live, and
not die; and let not his men
be few.
And
this is the blessing of Judah: and he said, Hear,
Lord, the voice of Judah, and bring him unto his people: let his hands be sufficient for him; and be thou an
help to him from his enemies.
And
thou shalt put in
the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim;
and they shall be upon Aaron's heart, when he goeth in before
the Lord: and Aaron shall bear the judgment
of the children of Israel upon
his heart before the Lord
continually.
And
he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children
of Israel, and because they tempted the Lord, saying, Is the Lord among us, or not?
And
of Levi he said, Let thy Thummim and thy Urim be with thy holy one, whom thou didst prove at Massah, and with whom thou didst strive at the waters of Meribah;
Who
said unto his father and to his mother, I have not seen him; neither did he
acknowledge
his brethren, nor knew his own
children: for they have observed thy word, and kept thy covenant.
They
shall teach Jacob thy judgments,
and Israel thy law: they
shall put incense before thee, and whole burnt sacrifice upon
thine altar.
Bless,
Lord, his substance, and accept the work of his hands: smite through the loins of them that rise against him, and of them that hate him, that they rise not - again.
And
of Benjamin he
said, The beloved of the Lord shall dwell in safety by him; and the Lord shall cover him all the day long, and he shall dwell between his shoulders.
And
of Joseph he said,
Blessed of the Lord be his land, for the precious things of heaven, for the dew, and for the deep that coucheth beneath,
And
for the precious fruits
brought forth by the sun,
and for the precious things put forth by the moon,
And
for the chief things of the ancient mountains,
and for the precious things of the lasting
hills,
But
of the fruit of the tree which is in the mid-st of the garden, God hath said, Ye
shall not eat of it, neither
shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
*
And
the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he
looked,
and, behold, the bush burned
with fire, and the bush was not consumed.
And
for the precious things of the
earth and fulness thereof, and for the good will of him that dwelt in the bush: let the blessing come upon the head of Joseph, and upon the top
of
the head of him that was separated from his brethren.
And
Abel, he also
brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat - thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
His glory is like the firstling of his
bullock, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns:
with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim,
and they are the thousands of Manasseh.
And of Zebulun he said, Rejoice, Zebulun, in thy
going out; and, Issachar, in thy tents.
They shall call the people unto
the mountain; there they shall offer sacrifices of righteousness:
for they shall suck of the abundance
of the seas, and of treasures hid in the sand.
And
of Gad he said, Blessed be he that enlargeth Gad; he dwelleth as a lion, and teareth the arm with the crown of
the head.
And
he provided the first part for himself,
because there, in a portion of the lawgiver,
was he seated; and he came with the

heads
of the people, he executed the justice of the Lord,
and his judgments with Israel.
And
of Dan he said,
Dan is a lion's whelp: he
shall leap from Bashan.
And
of Naphtali
he said, O Naphtali,
satisfied with favour, and full with the blessing
of the Lord: possess thou the west and the south.
***
If thou doest well, shalt thou not be
accepted?
***
And
of Asher
he
said, Let Asher be blessed with children; let him be acceptable
to his brethren, and let him dip
his foot in oil.
Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days,
so shall thy
strength
be.
There is none like unto the God of Jeshurun, who rideth upon the heaven in thy help, and in his excellency on
the sky.
The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy
from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.
***
In
the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of
the great
deep broken up, and the windows
of heaven were opened.
***
Israel then
shall dwell in safety alone: the fountain of Jacob shall be upon a land of
corn and wine; also his heavens shall drop down dew.
Happy art
thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people
saved
by the Lord, the shield of thy help, and who
is
the sword of thy excellency! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places.
And
Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto the mountain of Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho. And the Lord
shewed him all
the
land of Gilead, unto Dan,
And
all Naphtali,
and the land of Ephraim,
and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah, unto the utmost sea,
And
the south,
and the plain of the valley
of Jericho, the city of palm trees,
unto Zoar.
And
the Lord said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto
Jacob, saying, I will give it unto
thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou
shalt not go over thither.
So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord.
And he buried
him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.
And
Moses was an hundred and twenty years old
when he died:
his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.
And
the children of Israel wept
for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended.
And
Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had
laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the Lord commanded Moses.
***
And
the Spirit of God
moved upon the face of the waters.
***
And
there arose
not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face,
In
all the signs and the wonders,
which the Lord sent him to do in
the land of Egypt
to
Pharaoh,
and to all his servants, and to all his land,
And
in all that mighty hand, and in all the great terror which Moses shewed in the sight of all Israel.
