Then
again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.
**
And
Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one
was
Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
**
And
she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak,
and Shuah.
**
And
in process of time the daughter of Shuah Judah's wife died; and Judah was comforted,
and went up unto his
sheepshearers to Timnath, he and
his friend Hirah the Adullamite.
And
it was told Tamar, saying, Behold thy
father
in law goeth up to Timnath to shear
his sheep.
And
she put her widow's garments off from her, and covered her with a v-eil, and wrapped herself, and sat in an open place, which is by
the way to Timnath; for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she was not given unto him to wife.
When
Judah saw her, he thought her to be an harlot;
because she had covered her face.
And
he turned
unto her by the way, and said, Go to, I pray thee, let me come in unto thee; (for he knew
not that
she was his daughter in law.) And she said, What wilt thou give
me, that thou mayest come in unto me?
And
he said, I will
send thee a kid from the flock. And she said, Wilt thou give me a pledge, till thou send it?
And
he said, What pledge shall I give thee? And she said, Thy signet, and thy
bracelets,
and thy staff that is in thine hand. And he gave it her, and came in unto her, and she conceived - by him.
And she arose, and went away, and laid by her v-eil from her, and put on
the garments of her widowhood.
And
Judah sent the kid by the hand of his friend
the Adullamite, to receive his pledge
from the woman's hand; but he found her not.
Then
he asked the men of that place, saying, Where is the harlot, that was openly
by the way side? And they said, There was no harlot in this place.
And
he returned to Judah, and
said, I cannot find her; and also
the men of the place said, that there was no harlot in this place.
And
Judah said, Let her take it
to
her, lest we be shamed: - behold, I sent this kid, and
thou hast not found her.
And
it came to pass about three
months after, that it
was
told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she is
with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.
When she was brought forth, she sent to her father in law, saying, By
the man, whose these are, - am I with child: and she said, Discern, I pray thee, whose are these,
the signet, and bracelets, and staff.
And
Judah acknowledged them,
and said, She hath been more righteous than I; because that I gave her not to Shelah my son.
And
he knew
her again - no more.
And
it came to pass in the time of her travail, - that, behold, twins were in her womb.
And
it came to pass, when she travailed,
that the one put out his hand: and the midst-wife took and bound upon his hand a scarlet thread,
- saying, This came out first.
And
it came to pass, as he drew
back
- his hand, that, - behold, his brother came out: and she said, How hast thou broken forth? - this breach - be upon thee: therefore his name was called Pharez.
And
afterward came out his brother, - that had the scarlet thread upon his hand: and his name was called Zerah..

If
thou
wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD;
Then
the Lord will make - thy plagues wonderful,
and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.
Moreover
he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto
thee.
Also
every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the Lord bring upon thee,
until thou be destroyed.
And
ye shall be left few in number,
whereas ye were as the stars
of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the Lord thy God.

And the Lord said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of the He-brews, Let my people go, - that they may serve me.
And the Lord said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of the He-brews, Let my people go, - that they may serve me.
For
I
will at this time send all
my plagues upon thine heart, and upon thy
servants, and upon thy
people;
that thou mayest know - that there is none like me in
all the earth.
For
now
I will stretch out my hand, that I may smite thee
and thy
people with pestilence; and thou shalt be cut off from the earth.
And
in - very deed for this cause have I
raised thee up, for to shew in
thee my
power;
and that my name may be declared
throughout all the earth.
As
yet
exaltest thou thyself against my
people, that thou wilt not let them go?
Behold,
tomorrow about this time I will cause it
to
rain a very grievous hail, such as hath not
been in Egypt since the foundation –
there-of even until now.
Send
therefore now, and gather thy
cattle,
and all that thou hast in the field; for upon every man and beast which shall be found in the field,
and shall not be brought home, the hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die.
He that feared the word of the Lord among the servants of Pharaoh made
his servants and his cattle flee into the houses:
And
he that regarded not the word of the Lord left his servants and his cattle in the field.
And
the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch forth
thine hand - toward heaven, - that there
may be hail in all the land of Egypt, upon man, and upon beast, and upon every
herb
of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.
**
So God created man
in his own image
**
And
Moses
stretched
forth his rod
toward heaven:
and the Lord sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the Lord rained hail upon the land of Egypt.
So there was hail, and fire mingled
with the hail, very grievous, such as there
was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.
**
and
it came to pass, when they
were
in the field, - that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
**
And
the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field,
and brake every tree of the field.

He
that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I
will say of the Lord,
He is my refuge and my fortress:
my God; in him will I trust.
Surely
he
shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler,
and from the noisome
pestilence.
He
shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings
shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Thou
shalt not be afraid
for the terror by night; nor for
the arrow that flieth by day;
Nor
for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction
that wasteth at noonday.
A
thousand shall
fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right
hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only
with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Only
in the land of Goshen, where
the children of Israel were, was there
no hail.
