Sermon on the Mount VIII

Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his - right eye shall be utterly darkened.

And if thy right eye offend thee, - pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee - that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

And Joseph took them - both, - Ephraim in his right hand - toward Israel's left hand, and Man-as-seth in his left hand - toward Israel's - right hand, and brought them - near unto him.
And Israel - stretched out his right hand, and - laid it upon Ephraim's head, - who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, - guiding his - hands wittingly; for Manasseth was the firstborn.

And Joseph said - unto his father, Not so, my father
for this is the firstborn; put thy right hand upon his head.
And his father refused, and said,
I know it,
*****
That say, Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it! . . .
. . . Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?

*****
my son, I know it:
he also shall become a people,
and he also shall be great:
but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.
Thee
And he blessed them that day, saying, - In thee shall Israel bless, saying, - God make thee as Eph-raim and as Man-as-seth: and he - set Ephraim before Manasseh.
*****
And Isaac's servants digged in the valley, and found there - a well of springing water. . . .
*****

Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? - or thy work, He hath no hands?
Woe unto him that saith unto his father, What be-gettest thou? - or to the work-man, What hast thou - brought forth? . . .

*****
And God said, Let us make man in our im-age, -after our likeness:
*****
Thus saith the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, - Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye - me.
I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.
I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build - my city, and he shall let go my captives, not for price nor reward, saith the Lord of hosts.
Thus saith the Lord, The labour of Egypt, and merchandise of Ethiopia and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over unto thee, and - they shall be thine: they shall come - after thee; in chains they shall come over, and they shall fall down unto thee, they shall make supplication unto thee, saying, Surely God is in thee; and there is none else, there is no God.

*****
And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac's herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him.
And they digged another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah.
*****
And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them - four hundred years;
*****

And he removed - from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now - the Lord hath made room - for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.
And he went up - from thence to Beersheba. . . .
*****
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night.
*****

And the Lord appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed - for my servant Abraham's sake.
And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of the Lord, - and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac's servants digged a well.
Then Abimelech went to him - from Gerar, and Ahuzzath one of his friends, and Phichol the chief captain of his army.
And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me, and have sent me away from you?
*****
He that speaketh flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail. He hath made me also a byword of the people; and aforetime I was as a tabret. Mine eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members are as a shadow.

And if thy right hand - offend thee, - cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy - whole body should be cast into hell.

Sermon on the mount VII

Woman

And Lot - lifted up - his eyes, - and beheld all the plain of Jordan,  - that it was well watered every where, - before the Lord - destroyed Sodom - and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the Lord,
like the land of Egypt, - as thou comest unto Zoar.

*****
And he blessed him, - and said, - Blessed be Abram - of the most high God, - possessor of heaven and earth:
And blessed be - the most high God, - which hath delivered thine - enemies - into thy hand.
And he gave him - tithes of all.

That the - sons of God - saw the daughters of men that - they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
*****
Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated them-selves the one - from - the other.
*****
And Adam gave - names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, - and to every beast of the field; - for - Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
*****
And it came to pass, - when men - began to multiply on the face of the earth,
and daughters - were born unto them,
That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

and also - after that,
when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, - and - they bare children to - them, . . . .
*****
And the earth was without form,
and void;
andarkness was upon the face of the deep.
And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground,
and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man - became a living soul.
*****
might-y
(mite)adj. might-i-er, might-i-est. 1. Having or showing great power, skill, strength, or force: a mighty orator; a mighty blow. 2. Imposing or awesome in size, degree, or extent: a mighty stone fortress.adv.

. . . . t
he same became mighty men - which were - of old, men of renown.

And Cush begat Nimrod: - he began to be a mighty - one in the earth. . . .
And the - beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
*****
for - Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

*****
And it came to pass, - as they - journeyed from the east, - that they - found - a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
*****
Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.
But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.
*****
And he said, I heard - thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? - Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee - that thou shouldest - not eat?
And I will put enmity between - thee - and the woman, . . . .

*****
Bread corn is bruised; - because he - will not ever - be threshing it, nor break it with the wheel of his cart, nor bruise it with his horsemen.
This also cometh forth from the Lord of hosts, which is wonderful - in counsel, and excellent in working.
A bruised reed shall he - not break, and the smoking flax shall he - not quench:
he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
He shall - not fail - nor be discouraged,  -till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall waitfor - his law.

*****
and between - thy seed - and her seed; it shall bruise - thy head, - and thou shalt bruise his heel.
*****
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

*****

Agree with thine - adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; - lest at any time the - adversary - deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
Verily I say unto thee, - Thou shalt by no means come out thence, - till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

Ye have heard - that it was said by them of old time, - Thou shalt not commit adultery:

*****
And the rib, - which the Lord God had - taken from - man, - made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, - lest ye die.
*****

But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after - her hath committed adultery - with her already in his heart.
