Sheba VII

Apil-Sin
IN
The Beginning

The name of the first is Pis-on:
that is it which comp-as-seth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;
And the gold of that land is good:
there is bdellium and the onyx stone.
And the name of the second river is Gihon:

the same is it that comp-as-seth the whole land of Ethiopia

And the na-me of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which go-eth toward the east of Assyria
And the fourth river is Euphrates.

And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou may-east freely eat:
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,
thou shalt not eat of it:
for in the day - that thou eat-east there-of thou shalt surely die.

And the Lord God said,
Behold, the man is become as one of us,
to know good and evil:

Behold,
thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth;
and from thy face shall I be hid;
and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth;
and it shall come to pass,
that every one that find-eth me - shall slay me.

And God said unto Noah,
The end of all flesh - is come before me;

And God looked upon the earth,
and,
behold,
it was corrupt;
for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

But with thee will I establish my covenant;

and thou shalt come into the ark,

Of fowls after their kind,
and of cattle after their kind,
of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind,
two of every sort shall come unto thee,
to keep them alive.

Thus did No-ah;
according to all that God commanded him,
so did he.

And the Lord said unto Noah,
Come thou and all thy house into the ark;

And it shall come to pass,
when I bring a cloud over the earth,
that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:

And I will remember my covenant,
which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh;
and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.

And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria.

And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon,
as thou comest to Gerar,
unto Gaza;

as thou go-east,
unto Sodom,

and Gomorrah,
and Admah,
and Zeboim,
even unto Lasha.

And Sarai Abram's wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian,

after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan,
and gave her - to her husband Abram to be his wife.
And he went in unto Hagar,
and she conceived:

And the Lord God said,
Behold,
the man is become as one of us,
to know good - and evil:

And his father refused,
and said,
I know it,
my son,
I know it:

and when she saw that she had conceived,
mis-tress
(mistris)n. 1. A woman in a position of authority, control, or ownership, as the head of a household:

her mistress was despised in her eyes.

And un-to Eber were born two sons:
the name of one was Peleg;
for in his days  w-as the earth divided;
and his brother's name was Joktan.
And Joktan begat Almodad,
and Sheleph,
and Hazarmaveth,
and Jerah,
And Hadoram,
and Uzal,
and Diklah,
And O-bal,
and Abimael,
and Sheba,

And Lot went up out of Zoar,

And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord,
and dwelt in the land of Nod,
on the east of Eden.

and dwelt in the mountain,
and his two daughters with him;

for he feared to dwell in Zoar:

They were driven forth from among men, (they cried after them as after a thief;)
To dwell in the cliffs of the valleys,
in caves of the earth,
and in the rocks.
Among the bushes they brayed;
under the nettles they were gathered together.

and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.

And the firstborn said unto the younger,
Our father is old,
and there is not a man in the earth to come in un-to us after the manner of all the earth:

Come,

And God said,
Let us make man in our image,

let us make our father drink wine,

after our likeness:

and now,
lest he put forth his hand,
and take also of the tree of life,
and eat,
and live for ever:

anwe will lie with him,

Anthey made their father drink wine - that night:
and the firstborn went in,
and lay with her father;
anhe perceived not when she lay down,
nor when she arose.;

And it came to pass on the morrow,

that the firstborn said unto the younger

Behold,
I lay yesternight with my father:

And she called his name Jo-seph;
and said,
The Lord shall add to me another son.

Now there-fore come thou,
let us make a covenant,
I and thou;
and let it be for a witness between me and thee.
And Jacob took a stone,
and set it up for a pillar.

let us make him drink wine this night also;
and go thou in,
and lie with him,
that we may preserve seed of our father.

And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose,
and lay with him;
and he perceived not when she lay down,
nor when she arose.

If I have withheld the poor from their desire,
or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail;
Or have eaten my morsel myself alone, and the fatherless hath not eaten thereof;
 (For from my youth- he was brought up with me,
as with a father,
and I have guided her from my mother's womb;)

If I have seen any perish for want of clothing,
or any poor without covering;
If his loins have not blessed me,
and if he were not warmed with the fleece of my sheep;
If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless,
when I saw my help in the gate:
Then let mine arm fall from my shoulder blade,
and mine arm be broken from the bone.
For destruction from God was a terror to me,
and by reason of his highness I could not endure.

Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.
And the firstborn bare a son,
and called his name Moab:
the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day.

And the name of the man was Elimelech,
and the name of his wife Naomi,
and the name of his two sons Mahlon
and Chilion,
Ephrathites of Bethlehemjudah.
And they came into the country of Moab,
and continued there.
And Elimelech Naomi's husband died; and she was left, and her two sons.
And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah,
and the name of the other Ruth:
and they dwelled there about ten years.
And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them;
and the woman w-as left of her two sons and her husband.

Then she arose with her daughters in law,
that she might return from the country of Moab:

for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the Lord had visited his people in giving them bread.

Where-fore she went forth out of the place where she was,
and her two daughters in law with her;
and they went on the way to return unto the land of Judah.

And Naomi said unto her two daughters in law,
Go,
return each to her mother's house:
the Lord deal kindly with you,
as ye have dealt with the dead,
and with me.
The Lord grant you that ye may find rest,
each of you in the house of her husband.

And Jacob kissed Rachel,
and lifted up his voice,
and wept.

Then she kissed them;
and they lifted up their voice,
 and wept.

And they said unto her,
Surely we will return with thee unto thy people.

And Naomi said,
Turn again,
my daughters:
why will ye go with me?
are there yet any more sons in my womb,
that they may be your husbands?

Turn again,
my daughters,
go your way;

for I am too old to have an husband.

If I should say,
I have hope,
if I should have an husband also to-night,
and should also bear sons;
Would ye tarry for them till they were grown?
would ye stay for them from having husbands?

nay,
my daughters;

And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth,
and it grieved him at his heart.

for it grieveth me much for your sakes that the hand of the Lord is gone out against me.

And they lifted up their voice,
and wept again:

and Orpah kissed her mother in law;
but Ruth clave unto her.
And she said,
Behold,
thy sister in law is gone back unto her people,
and unto her gods:

return thou after thy sister in law.

And Ruth said,

and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass,
that every one that findeth me - shall slay me.

Entreat me not to leave thee,
or to return from following after thee:
for whither thou go-east,
I will go;

and where thou lodgest,
I will lodge:
thy people shall be my people,
and thy God my God:

Where thou diest,
will I die,
and there will I be buried:
the Lord do so to me,
and more also,
if aught but death part thee and me.
When she saw that she w-as stedfastly minded to go with her,

then she left speaking un-to her.

Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi,
thou must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess,
the wife of the dead,
to raise up the name of the dead up-on his inheritance.

So Boaz took Ruth,
and she w-as his wife:
and when he went in unto her,
the Lord gave her conception,
and she bare a son.
And the women said unto Naomi,
Blessed be the Lord,
which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman,
that his name may be famous in Israel.

And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life,
and a nourisher of thine old age:
for thy daughter in law,
which loveth thee,
which is better to thee than seven sons,
hath borne him.

And Naomi took the child,
and laid it in her bosom,
and became nurse unto it.

And the women her neighbours gave it a name,
saying,
There is a son born to Naomi;
and they called his name Obed:
he is the father of Jesse,
the father of David.

And Jacob was left al-one;

Lot

And Lot went up out of Zoar,
and dwelt in the mountain,
Come, let us make our father drink wine,
and we will lie with him,

and there wrestled a man - - with - - him un-til the breaking of the day.
And when he saw that he prevailed not again-st him,
And God said,
Let the earth bring forth grass,
the herb yielding seed,
and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in it-self,

So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God created he him;
male and female created he them.

And Adah bare Jabal:
he w-as the father of such as dwell in tents,
and of such as have cattle.

God shall enlarge Japheth,
and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem;
And Lot also,
which went with Abram,
had flocks,
and herds,
and tents.

And the boys grew:
and Esau w-as a cunning hunter,
a man of the field;
and Jacob w-as a plain man,
dwelling in tents.

he touched the hollow of his thigh;
and the hollow of Jacob's thigh w-as out of joint,
as he wrestled with him.

 And he said,
He breaketh me with breach upon breach,
he runneth upon me like a giant.
I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin,
and defiled my horn in the dust.

My face is foul with weeping,
and on my eyelids is the shadow of death;
Not for any injustice in mine hands:
also my prayer is pure.

Let me go, . . . for the day breaketh.

I will not let thee go,
except thou bless me.

Behold,
thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth;
and from thy face shall I be hid;
and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth;
and it shall come to pass,
that every one that find-eth me shall slay me.

And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon,
as thou comest to Gerar,
unto Gaza;

as thou go-east, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah,
and Zeboim,
even unto Lasha.

And the name of the second river is Gihon:
the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.
And the gold of that land is good:
there is bdellium - and the onyx stone.
And all the house of Joseph,
and his brethren,
and his father's house:
only their little ones,
and their flocks,
and their herds,
they left in the land of Goshen.

And there went up with him both chariots - and horsemen:
and it was a very great company.

Queen of Sheba

And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord,
she came to prove him with hard questions.
And she came to Jerusalem with a very great train,
with camels that bare spices,
and very much gold,
and precious stones:
and when she was come to Solomon,

Also he sent forth a dove from him,
to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground;
But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot,
and she returned unto him in-to the ark,
for the waters were on the face of the whole earth:
then he put forth his hand,
and took her,
and pulled her in un-to him in-to the ark.

And Hamor communed with them,
saying,
The soul of my son Shechem longeth for your daughter:
I pray you give her him to wife.
And make ye marriages with us,
and give your daughters unto us,
and take our daughters unto you.
And ye shall dwell with us:
and the land shall be before you;
dwell and trade ye there-in,
and get you possessions there-in.

Him
When the Most High divided to the nations their inheritance,
when he separated the sons of Adam,
he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.
For the Lord's portion is his people;
Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

she communed with him of all that was in her heart

So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations;
and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations;
and from the carrying away into Babylon un-to Christ are fourteen generations.

Now the birth of RAheme Christ w-as on this wise:
When as his mother My w-as espoused to Joseph,
before they came together,

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

And he said,
I heard thy voice in the garden,
and I w-as afraid,
because I was naked;
and I hid myself.

she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

Go ye there-fore in-to the high-ways,
and as many as ye shall find,
bid to the marriage.

RAheme said unto him,
Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart,
and with all thy soul,
and with all thy mind.

Enter ye in at the strait gate:
for wide is the gate,
and broad is the way,
that leadeth to destruction,

And God saw the light,
that it w-as good:
and God divided the light from the darkness.
And God called the light Day,
and the darkness - he called Night.

And the evening and the morning were the first day.

and many there be which go in there-at:

Many will say to me in that day,

Lord,
Lord,

have we not prophesied in thy name?
and in thy name have cast out devils?
and in thy name done many wonderful works?

And the name of the second river is Gihon:
the same is it that compass-seth the whole land of Ethiopia.

Wherefore I say unto you,
All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men:
but the blasphemy again-st the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

And whosoever speak-eth a word again-st the Son of man,
it shall be forgiven him:

Wherefore I say un-to you,
All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men:
but the blasphemy again-st the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

And the name of the second river is Gihon:
the same is it that compass-seth t-he whole land of Ethiopia.

but whosoever speak-eth again-st the Holy Ghost,
it shall not be forgiven him,
neither in this world,
neither in the world to come.

That thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which thou shalt bring of thy land that the Lord thy God giveth thee,
and shalt put it in a basket,
and shalt go un-to the place which the Lord thy God shall choose to place his name there.
And thou shalt go un-to the priest that shall be in those days,
and say un-to him,
I profess this day unto the Lord thy God,
that I am come unto the country which the Lord sware un-to our fathers for to give us.

And then will I profess un-to them,

I never knew you:
depart from me,
ye that work iniquity.

And I say un-to you,

And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made;
and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

That many shall come from the east and west,
and shall sit down with Abraham,
and Isaac,
and Jacob,
in the kingdom of heaven.
But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness:

And thou hast filled me with wrinkles,
which is a witness against me:
and my leanness rising up in me beareth witness to my face.
He teareth me in his wrath,
who hateth me:
he gnasheth up-on me with his teeth;
mine enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me.

 there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Sheba V

And Judah said unto Onan,
Go in unto thy brother's wife,
and marry her,
and raise up seed to thy brother.
And Onan knew that the seed should not be his;

And when the mourning was past,
David sent and fetched her to his house,
and she became his wife,

and bare him a son.

Howbeit,

because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the child also that is born un-to thee shall surely die.

And Nathan departed un-to his house.
And he struck it into the pan,
or kettle,
or caldron,
or pot;
all that the fleshhook brought up the priest took for himself.
So they did in Shiloh unto all the Israelites that came thither.

And the Lord struck the child that Uriah's wife bare unto David, and it was very sick.

And God blessed them, saying,
Be fruitful,
and multiply,
and fill the waters in the seas,
and let fowl multiply in the earth.
And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

But Amasa took no heed to the sword that w-as in Joab's hand:
so he smote him there-with in the fifth rib,

and shed out his bowels to the ground,

and struck him not again;
and he died.
So Joab and Abishai his brother pursued after Sheba the son of Bichri.

Neither did Jeroboam recover strength again in the days of Abijah:
and the Lord struck him,
and he died.

And the Lord struck the child that Uriah's wife bare un-to David,

And,
behold,
seven other kine came up after them,
poor and very ill favoured
and lean-fleshed,
such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt - for badness:

and it w-as very sick.
David there-fore besought God for the child;
and David fasted,
and went in,
and lay all night upon the earth.

And the elders of his house arose,
and went to him,
to raise him up from the earth:
but he would not,
neither did he eat bread with them.

And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made;
and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
And God blessed the seventh day,
and sanctified it:
because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

And it came to pass on the seventh day,
that the child died.

And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child w-as dead:
for they said,
Behold,
while the child w-as yet alive,
we spake unto him,
and he would not hearken unto our voice:
how will he then vex himself,
if we tell him that the child is dead?

But when David saw that his servants whispered,
David perceived that the child was dead:

there-fore David said unto his servants,
Is the child dead?
And they said,
He is dead.

Then David arose from the earth,
and washed,
and anointed himself,
and changed his apparel,
and came into the house of the Lord,
and worshipped:

then he came to his own house;
and when he required,
they set bread before him,
and he did eat.

Then said his servants unto him,
What thing is this that thou hast done?
thou didst fast and weep for the child,
while it w-as alive;
but when the child w-as dead,
thou didst rise and eat bread.

And he said,
While the child was yet alive,
I fasted and wept:
for I said,
Who can tell whether God will be gracious to me,
that the child may live?

But now he is dead,
And he said,
Thy name shall be called no more Jacob,
but Israel:
for as a prince hast thou power with God - and with men,
and hast prevailed.
And Jacob asked him,
and said,
Tell me,
I pray thee,
thy name.
And he said,
Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name?
And he blessed him there.

where-fore should I fast?
can I bring him back again?
I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.
And David comforted Bathsheba his wife,

And the dove came in to him in the evening; and,
lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf plucked off:

and went in unto her,
and lay with her:
and she bare a son,

And she said,
Who would have said unto Abraham,
that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age.

And he said,
Put thine hand into thy bosom again.
And he put his hand into his bosom again;
and plucked it out of his bosom,
and,
behold,
it was turned again as his other flesh.

And he shall pluck away his crop with his feathers,
and cast it beside the altar on the east part,
by the place of the ashes:

And the owl,
and the night hawk,
and the cuckoo,
and the hawk after his kind,

Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you,
and destroy all their pictures,
and destroy all their molten images,
and quite pluck down all their high places:
Notwithstanding thou mayest kill - and eat flesh in all thy gates,
whatsoever thy soul lusteth after,
according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee:
the unclean and the clean may eat thereof,
as of the roebuck,
and as of the h-art.

And it shall come to pass,
that as the Lord rejoiced over you to do you good,
and to multiply you;
so the Lord will rejoice over you to destroy you,
and to bring you to nought;
and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.

And Samuel took a sucking lamb,
and offered it for a burnt offering wholly unto the Lord:
and Samuel cried unto the Lord for Israel;
and the Lord heard him.
And as Samuel w-as offering up the burnt offering,
the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel:
but the Lord thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines,
and discomfited them;
and they were smitten before Israel.

and he called his name Solomon: and the Lord loved him.
